The first episode of Nisemonogatari doesn't disappoint, but its wasn't exactly a runaway success either. Somehow it seems to have lost some of that bite in the storytelling. Nothing really happens this episode and they might be spending the next 2 episodes re-introducing characters. The star of this arc, Karen Bee, hasn't even appeared yet! With that said...
This is still a pretty damn good episode! Shaft finally has enough money to properly animate an episode! Great animation as required, and great art style throughout. The quality of the dialogue has increased slightly over Bakemonogatari's already high standards. They even managed to throw in some emotionally uplifting moments towards the end of the episode.
Let's see how Shaft pace the rest of the 11 episodes.
