Mitsudomoe (Anime) Impressions

Mitsudomoe (2010)
Format: TV Series,Unknown number of episodes
Studio: Bridge
Potential: 1-3 stars
Summary: This is not your typical moe series. Choke full of cheap sex jokes, this series could sink faster than the Titanic if it does not stay fresh. Right now, I would say 1 star, but with comedy series like these, you can never tell. Also, a failed attempt at trying to look as cute (and innocent) as Ichigo Mashimaro.

Newly hired teacher Satoshi Yabe is terrorized by his new students the Marui triplets. Hilarity ensues.

Despite it's looks, this show is closer to Kodomo no Jikan than Ichigo Mashimaro. The sex jokes here are aplenty, hurling themselves at you every few minutes. However, the jokes mostly feel shallow (aren't most sex jokes that way), and the characters do not seem like the type to develop over time (something Kodomo no Jikan did rather well). Right from the start you might think there isn't much hope from the series but I beg to differ (and I will explain why in a little while).

Bridge is a new animation production company, but their staff are veterans in the anime industry. Director Masahiko Ohta also directed Minami-ke (the good first season), and did a bit of work for Chobits, Rozen Maiden, and Ichigo Mashimaro. Animation Director Takaharu Okuma is even more impressive, having worked on Ichigo Mashimaro as Animation Director, Kappa no Coo to Natsuyasumi, Honey and Clover, and Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2 as Key Animator. These people have experience, and I'm quite interested to see what they can do for a seemingly shallow series such as this.
